Karachi Metropolitan University (KMU) is a newly established public-sector university under the Sindh Assembly Act No. LIV of 2023. It brings together Karachi Medical & Dental College (KMDC) and Abbasi Shaheed Hospital into a comprehensive higher education institution focused on healthcare, technology, and interdisciplinary studies.

KMU offers a wide range of academic programs at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels through several faculties, including Business Administration, Computer Sciences and Emerging Technologies, Nursing, Physical Therapy, Bio-Medical Engineering, and Pharmacy. These programs are designed to meet international standards and align with the socio-economic and cultural development needs of Karachi and beyond.

The Chancellor of KMU is the Governor of Sindh.
