The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Sukkur, was established on 8.10.1979 under provision of the Sindh Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education Ordinance, 1972. The Offices of the Board were firstly established in a portion of A. B.D Law College Sukkur, then shifted to rented bungalows situated in Muslim Housing Society at Military Road Sukkur. The Board occupied its own present premises/offices in the year 1985.
Subsequently, from the year 1985, the territories of Nawabshah District excepting Taluka Daulatpur were shifted to BISE, Hyderabad by the Government of Sindh. On establishment of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education at Larkana, the territorial jurisdiction is confined to the following areas:
• District Sukkur
• District Ghotki
• District Khairpur
• District Naushahro Feroze
• Taluka Daulatpur of Nawabshah District
Later on, all the Institutions of Daulatpur Taluka of District Nawabshah were also shifted to Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education, Hyderabad in the year 2002.
The Board is providing examination & certification facilities to the students of the region. The first annual examinations of class IX and XI were held in the year 1980, by the newly appointed inexperienced staff with limited resources and meager accommodation. It was a huge task but only by the Grace of Allah, the Almighty, both the major examinations were conducted very smoothly.
The initial teething and weaning difficulties having been overcome, the Board, within one year, assumed its normal stature and the performance during the SSC/HSC examination 1981.
